Connecting Xero
Sign up with Xero, the exact permissions Gladpaid asks for, how the connection stays alive, and how to disconnect.
Updated
Sign up with Xero creates your Gladpaid account and connects your organisation in one step. Your name and email come from your Xero identity, so there is nothing else to fill in apart from one question about your role.
What Gladpaid asks Xero for
Xero lets apps ask for narrow permissions, and Gladpaid asks for the smallest set that lets it close invoices:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name and email | Sign-in and account creation. |
| Offline access | So matching and posting keep working when you are not logged in. |
| Organisation settings and accounts | Base currency, lock dates, and creating the wallet account if you ask us to. |
| Contacts (read only) | To tie a receipt to the right customer. |
| Invoices (read only) | Open invoices to match against. |
| Payments | To record the payment that marks an invoice paid. |
| Manual journals | Fees, settlement differences and own-wallet transfers. |
| Attachments | The payment proof PDF. |
| Balance sheet or trial balance report (read only) | The month-end balance check. |
Keeping the connection alive
Xero's connection expires after 60 days without use. Gladpaid refreshes it in the background well before then, so a quiet month does not disconnect you. If Xero ever revokes access, we email the business, not you personally (see Reconnecting a ledger).
Connecting and disconnecting
Settings → Ledger shows which organisation is connected, when it last synced, and a Disconnect button. Disconnecting stops all reads and posts and revokes Gladpaid's access with Xero. Entries already posted stay in Xero.
If a trial ends without a plan, the business is read-only for 30 days and then the Xero connection is disconnected automatically, as Xero requires for unconverted trials. Choosing a plan later and reconnecting picks up where you left off. See Billing and the trial.
Xero data is never used to train models, never pooled across customers, and never sent to an AI model without your business's explicit consent (see Uploads and remittance advice).
