Record a USDC payment

Paste a stablecoin transaction hash. See what moved, what it was worth at the block, with the price evidence, and the journal entries under every accounting treatment, each with the standard it rests on.

Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, Solana and Tron.

Paste a transaction hash, never a key. Gladpaid is read-only: it reads public chain data and cannot move funds.

How it works

One transaction, read the way an accountant would

  1. 01

    Paste the hash

From the block explorer or the customer's confirmation: an EVM hash, a Solana signature or a Tron transaction ID. We find the chain.

  2. 02

    Read the chain

We read the transaction, keep only known stablecoin contracts (never a look-alike token), and check whether the block is final.

  3. 03

    Value it with evidence

USD value at the block's timestamp, at par for a dollar coin, with the market price and its source kept alongside.

  4. 04

    See every treatment

The entries a QuickBooks or Xero ledger would carry under each classification, from the same engine Gladpaid posts with.

The treatments

Why there is more than one answer

For a business with no account at the issuer, how to classify a stablecoin is unsettled. These are the options the tool shows, and the facts each one depends on.

How Gladpaid values dollar stablecoins: Gladpaid books USDC, USDT, PYUSD and USDG at $1.00 (par) under every classification and keeps the market price at the block as evidence. A depeg beyond 0.5% is held for your review, then still posts at $1.00. If your accountant needs market-price remeasurement, post it as a manual adjustment. An independent CPA review of this rule is pending.

Financial asset: receivable at amortised cost

UNSETTLED

The business can redeem with the issuer directly (for example a Circle Mint account for USDC), or can obtain that right without significant barriers.

AICPA practice aid Q&A 23 · KPMG Handbook Q 8.4.10 · ASC 310 Receivables; ASC 326 (CECL) · Holder without a direct right (Circle "User Type B")

Financial asset: fair value option

UNSETTLED

As above (a direct or readily obtainable redemption right), plus an election of the fair value option.

AICPA practice aid Q&A 23 · ASC 825 fair value option · Holder without a direct right (Circle "User Type B")

Intangible asset at cost less impairment

UNSETTLED

The business has no direct redemption right and cannot readily obtain one, and the coin still gives some claim on the issuer's reserves (so it falls outside ASC 350-60).

Crypto intangible at fair value (ASC 350-60)

UNSETTLED

The business has no direct redemption right and its accountant reads ASC 350-60-15-1(b) strictly.

Cash equivalent (recorded election, evidence required)

UNSETTLED

The business holds its own issuer account (for example Circle Mint), has the reserve attestation on file, and its accountant elects this policy under ASC 230-10-45-6.

US GAAP, accrual

Revenue is recorded when the invoice is earned. A stablecoin receipt settles the receivable, and the classification question below decides how the coins are carried.

Cash basis

Income is recorded when payment arrives. The stablecoin is recorded as a digital asset at its USD value on receipt; how cash-basis statements present that holding is a question for the accountant.

Tax basis

For federal tax a stablecoin is property, not currency. A receipt for goods or services is income at its fair market value in USD on the day it arrives, and it is labelled "digital asset received". Gladpaid books the receipt at $1.00 (par) and keeps the market price as evidence; any market-price remeasurement is a manual adjustment.

Questions

How do I record a USDC payment in QuickBooks or Xero?
A payment against an invoice is entered as a customer payment, deposited to the account that carries the coins, so the invoice itself closes (a journal to receivables does not close it). Which kind of account that is (a receivable, an intangible, or an asset at fair value) depends on how the business classifies stablecoins, which is unsettled for most holders; the tool shows the entries for each option. The choice is your accountant's.
Is USDC cash for accounting purposes?
Not under current US guidance for a business holding it in its own wallet or on an exchange. A FASB proposal issued in August 2026 would allow a cash-equivalent policy for some holders with a direct issuer redemption right; it is not final. The tool shows that option only as a recorded election that needs evidence.
What price is the payment valued at?
At the timestamp of the block that confirmed it. Gladpaid books a dollar stablecoin at $1.00 (par) under every classification and keeps the observed market price as evidence. A move of more than 0.5% from the peg is held for review, then still posts at $1.00. If your accountant needs market-price remeasurement, post it as a manual adjustment; an independent CPA review of this rule is pending.
Does the tool store what I paste?
A found transaction's public details are cached so the next lookup is instant. Anything that is not a transaction is kept only as a one-way hash, and a recovery phrase or private key is refused before it is stored or logged.

Gladpaid shows how published standards and guidance treat each choice, with citations. It is not accounting or tax advice. Your accountant decides, and the choice, who made it and when are recorded. The entries assume a hypothetical invoice or bill for the payment's face value. Citations version 2026-09-30.1.
