Month-end close
The eight-step close checklist, deadline reminders, sign-offs, and how a closed period locks and reopens.
Updated
Each month gets a close checklist per business. Gladpaid works out most of it for you; the steps that need a person say so. The close is included on every plan.
The checklist
| Step | Done when |
|---|---|
| 1. Receipts resolved | No receipt for the month is left in the queue. |
| 2. Outflows classified | Every transfer out has a purpose. |
| 3. Posted to the ledger | The month's entries are posted and no conflicts are open. |
| 4. Wallet balance reconciled | The on-chain balance at the period's last block equals the ledger account balance, per wallet and token, or the difference is explained. |
| 5. Gas balance reconciled | The native token used for network fees agrees too. |
| 6. Depeg review | Every depeg flag in the month has been seen. |
| 7. Preparer sign-off | The bookkeeper signs. |
| 8. Reviewer sign-off (optional) | The accountant signs, on Business, Scale and Firm plans. |
Deadlines and reminders
Set a close deadline in Settings → Close, such as business day 5. If items are outstanding, reminder emails go out three days and one day before it. Another goes out the day the close completes.
Signing off and locking
When the preparer signs off (and the reviewer, if you use one), Gladpaid generates the close pack and locks the period in Gladpaid. Nothing new posts into it. The owner summary email goes out.
What is in the pack: The close pack. Late receipts after sign-off: Locked periods. A wider walk-through: Month-end close with stablecoins.
